Peter is a proven leader in law, in business, in community service, and as a Councillor in Ward C. Throughout his career Peter has demonstrated that best results flow from transparent, responsible and accountable governance.  

Starting off his career as a corporate lawyer in private practice, he soon found himself in an in-house counsel role which led to becoming President of GE Commercial Distribution Finance. Upon leaving GE in 2007, he successfully co-founded TCF Inventory Finance, now a  subsidiary of Huntington Bank and recently holding assets of US$3.0 billion.

 Peter is the proud father of two: Peter Jr., who lives in Toronto with his wife Bronwynn and their newborn son Miles; and Sarah, who attends high school in Muskoka. 

For 23 years Peter and his wife Valerie Duke (a sixth-generation native of Port Carling) have been cottagers on Lake Joseph. In 2015 the couple, along with Sarah, decided to make Muskoka their year-round home and they have lived during the off-season in Port Carling ever since. Because of that move, combined with the community service work undertaken by Peter within the Township, Peter has gained a unique perspective that allows him to understand and represent the interests of all of Muskoka’s residents, both seasonal and permanent.  

 When he is not out sailing or tinkering at home or at the cottage you might see him driving through town in his vintage 1934 Ford Roadster.
